Spam King Reigns Again
Try as they might, Internet service providers can't seem to can the Spam King. Sanford
Wallace, president of the Philadelphia-based Cyber Promotions Inc., the world's most
notorious electronic direct marketer, is back online, clogging millions of inboxes
with junk e-mails known as "spam."
Two months ago, Apex Global Internet Services abruptly terminated Wallace's Internet
access, cutting off megabytes of junk e-mail being pumped through Apex's network,
and strangling the Spam King's business in the process.
Last week, a federal judge ordered Apex to reinstate Wallace's Internet service until
October 16. After that, Apex can once again pull Wallace's plug, this time with impunity,
but the Spam King says he'll be undeterred.
According to reports, Wallace is now working with 10 other corporate spammers to
create an independent backbone exclusively for junk e-mail.
