ACRONYM HELP,
ACRONYM HELL
Having a tough time keeping up with the latest computer industry buzzwords
and acronyms? Now you can turn to the World Wide Web for a quick
explanation. Mountain Data Systems, in Estes Park, Colorado, has posted the
Acronym Finder, a free database of over 45,000 acronym definitions. It's at
http://www.mtnds.com.
Another site, WhatIs.Com, covers acronyms and technology terms in general,
and also features a Word of the Day, and the Top 15 Most Requested
Definitions. You'll find them at http://www.whatis.com.
But even the best PC dictionaries would have a hard time with this actual
e-mail circulated last week by the Internet Engineering Task Force: "The
IESG has received a request from the Internetworking Over NBMA Working
Group to consider Definitions of Managed Objects for Classical IP and ARP
Over ATM Using SMIv2 ..."
