Doing a Find in OS X 10.2
According to one of the members of InfiniteLoop mailing list, "In 10.2 you can place a little search window in the toolbar of the finder windows. And if you click on the word "search" underneath that search window the new Apple-f search pops up. It's not Sherlock, its the Sherlock replacement for searching your HD. its faster than Sherlock. So, can anyone verify that for me? Thanks

New MacPlay site with online games and more
The Mac gaming expert, Peter Cohen is reporting on MacCentral that MacPlay is developing a new site, which will have online games that Mac users can play.
See the story at:

.
Fuzzyclock
The InfiniteLoop mail list also recently had a discussion about keeping computer clocks up to date. One person said that he didn't need such accurate accounting of time and would prefer one that would provide "Chilled-out timeä. Unfortunately for me it is OS X only.
Get it at:

.
Lexar intros multiple-media card reader
Lexar Media has introduced a new USB Multi-Card Reader that will read six different memory cards. Talk about versatility!
See the story at:

.
SuperDrive II from Pioneer
This drive will produce DVD-Rs in 4x speeds. Insanely Great Mac also ran a story on this drive. But they didn't mention something I heard on one of the Mac radio shows. (Don't know if it was YourMacLife.com or MacOSRadio.net). But basically, they require a new 4x disk. If that disk is placed in a current SuperDrive, it can ruin the drive. "So be careful out there!ä (Disks shouldn't be shipping until sometime in October.)

.
Fewer computer games
According to the Boston Globe, the game consoles are getting all the new software and many of the games are not making it to the PC (or Mac). The article points out that 40% more games were sold for the consoles last year than for the PC.

.
Boston MacWorld
The Boston Hearld is claiming that MacWorld Expo is on the verge of signing for a show in 2004 and beyond. That would be great news in my mind. And the way things are going, I might actually make it to Beantown.

Games FAQs
This site doesn't list Mac games, but since most Mac games have been on other platforms, it still should work for hints and tips. I downloaded a walk through of Return to Zork. Check it out at:

.
MacWorld San Francisco Special Offer
If you will to go to Expo in January, the UGAB has once again obtained disounts and free admissions for user groups. You will have to get the user group discount code from your UG leader, but Garr sent that out last week, so they should have it. So sign up early. You must register by: October 28 for the free exhibit pass or by December 9 to get the 15% discount on the conferences. Sign up once you get your code.

UGU on January 6th.
Details on registering aren't in yet, but Garr did announce that Monday January 6th would be the date to reserve for User Group University in San Francisco. So reserve the date and stay tuned for further developments. BTW - this is a GREAT way to meet other leaders and learn how to run your group better.

Thursby releases Dave v 4.0
This release of Dave from our Texas friends Thursby, is now compatible with OS X 10.2. It will be interesting to see how it improves the OS X 10.2 experience of connecting to a Windows network. IGM has a full article at:
http://www.insanely-great.com/news.php?id=1011

.
Royalty Free music on .Mac or if you hurry from iTools
While Monday, October 30th is the last day to get it free, there is a ton of free downloadable music on your iDisk. Use it for iMovie or even PowerPoint, it is a non-royalty option. Again, IGM has a story at:
