Quotes: Snyder, Carnegie
"It is one thing to be unsuccessful, it's one thing to argue a bad position, but it's quite another to be silly and laughed at, and that's where the RIAA has ended up. They appear to be totally irrelevant except as bagmen. It's more than just bad P.R., it's bad science. The RIAA reached its conclusions, then looked for supporting arguments, all the while ignoring reality, opportunity and fact. They overstate their position, misinterpret their own data, and make dubious claims for artists' rights when the biggest abusers of artists' rights are their benefactors, the record companies themselves."
      - John Snyder, president of Artist House Records, a board member of the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), and a 32-time Grammy nominee, comments on the Recording Industry Association of America. (from Good Morning Silicon Valley newsletter.)

"Happiness doesn't depend upon who you are or what you have. It depends solely upon what you think."
      - Dale Carnegie

Worrying about the future is like trying to eat the hole in a doughnut. It's munching on what isn't.
      -- Barry Neil Kaufman

The only service a friend can really render is to keep up your courage by holding up to you a mirror in which you can see a noble image of yourself.
-- George Bernard ShawGot a favorite quote?

But that coincidence is worth thinking about.
Other people or unfortunate circumstances may have caused you to feel pain, but only you control whether you allow that pain to go on. If you want those feelings to go away, you have to say: 'It's up to me.'"

Thanks to Fred Showker for filling in last week while I was having my surgery. (Angioplasty.) To those who inquired, everything appears to be doing better and while I will be on a new exercise regime and will have to report back in, I am up and about and working as usual. This weekend in fact, we are moving into the first house I have ever owned. (Along with the bank of course.) So for a few days I will once again be without Internet access at home. Personally I can do without the TV, but doing without Internet is harder. Thanks for your well wishes. Looking forward to meeting all of you at a future Expo. - Lynn
