Web Psychos, Stalkers, and Pranksters How to Protect Yourself in Cyberspace by Michael A. Banks This is a book I couldn't put down; it is fascinating and informative, and there are some really big surprises! There are on-line indexed archives of what has been said by whom in all the public postings to USENET-based newsgroups, bulletin boards and forums. These indexed archives will soon extend back to 1979! __ The author gives an example of how an indexed archive can be easily used to created a detailed profile of someone who has made a variety of postings. A place to start checking this out is www.altavista.digital.com/ This book tells you how to keep your name and postings out of the Deja News archive by addingto your header or to the first line of your posting "x-no-archive:yes." __ It also tells you how to keep your annominity when posting. __ There is advice on how to protect your pocketbook, your personal data, and your computer, when using the Internet. It also tells how to gather a vast amount information on almost anyone using the resources of the Internet (but of course you wouldn't be interested in doing that...).
