Maryland Apple Corps
* The MdAC was formed almost concurrently with the release of the Apple II computer. Near the end of 1977 a small informal group of 10 to 12 computer interested people began to meet in order to share their interests in their Apple computers. We solidified as a formal group in 1978 with the release of the Apple II and began issuing a newsletter in January of that year and began to grow in size. __By 1981 we established a formal meeting place at the Towson branch of the Baltimore County library in order to accommodate our burgeoning membership. In 1986, we incorporated for legal and liability reasons. Never having a paid staff, the officers and board members were and are pressed into service with various results. Within the last few years we have been able to attract many speakers, including Guy Kawasaki, to present their programs and products to our members. Several companies have donated hardware and software for the MdAC to show and then raffle off to our members to assist the MdAC's continued growth. __Although our Apple IIGS/Apple II group has withered, we still have a handful of never say diehards who can assist folks with these computers. From time to time, when a particular interest appears, other SIGs are formed (and dissolved). We have a Hardware SIG which meets on-and-off to help folks with hardware issues like memory installation, hard drive upgrades, etc. __We continue to flourish and hope to expand into even more areas as membership (and volunteers) increase. * Come discover what we're all about...
