Mac and PC Organizations Celebrate the
User Group Academy Awards

Dallas Texas, July 13, 1996

The 1996 NAUGSAW-10 User Group conference in Dallas Texas, was the site of the tenth anniversary celebration of NAUGSAW, (North American User Group Symposium & Workshop) as well as the first annual User Group Academy Awards. User Group leaders from all over the North American Continent gathered to see the best in User Group newsletters and web sites.

The event was first highlighted by Keynote Dave Meltzer, Microsoft's "Mac Office" Product Marketing Director. Then the lights dimmed, and the big screen glowed with the excitement of the first User Group Academy Awards.

An inspiring Awards opening was marked with awards for individuals in the User Group Community. Singled out to receive the highest honors in the computer industry were:

Hero Award for 1996
Guy Kawasaki - Apple Fellow, and Icon for the "MacWay Evangelist" (Pictured)

User Group Hero
Dan Sailers - This year's NAUGSAW Chairman, MacPac of Dallas officer, and "Build the User Group Dream" evangelist.

Outstanding Service to Organizations for 1996
Linda Frechette - Long standing User Group evangelist and advocate Assistant in the America Online User Group Forum

Outstanding Service to User Groups for 1996
Raines Cohen - Veteran User Group pundent, Berkeley Mac User Group Officer, and UG Community celebrity with The User Group Connection.
