Many agree that the computer User Group is the most important local community organization in the world of high technology.

To all organizations, the Newsletter is the most important element in maintaining communications between the group and its membership.
__ In today's world of high-speed communications, the Internet and the Web have quickly become a common media for communications, and are rapidly becoming the favorite method of group communication.
__ The UG Academy Awards will recognize those organizations and their communications editors -- both printed and electronic -- who excel in publications of excellence in the service of their members.
__ Each year, these Awards culminate in an Awards event, where winning newsletters, covers, files and pages are displayed.

The Jury Process
The awards will be juried by a panel of publishers and designers communications industry, as well as peers from the user group community.
__ The judging parameters have been carefully drafted in order to present a level-field for all newsletter editors and groups who enter.
__ All organizations wishing to enter must read and follow the nomination information which applies to each of the Award. This information will guide your group in understanding the Rules & Instructions for preparation of your entries.
__ All nominations will be judged on Creative Excellence, Technical Merit and Purveyance of Content

All entries will be presented with a citation of participation.
__ Awards will be on display at User Group Breakfast in San Francisco, and/or at the 1999 UG Soiree. Website awards 'surf' will be available AFTER awards ceremony.
__ Judges reserve the right to add or delete categories depending on the candidates and/or number of submissions. All awards will be given, and may include merchandise. If your group delegate is unable to attend the awards ceremony, then your award will be shipped to the STREET shipping address on the entry form.
