THE USER GROUP ACADEMY GRANTS The GRANT Proposals for the First User Group Academy Grants Program, "Technology In Our Schools" will mark a new chapter in the User Group Community. While we didn't get as many as we had hoped, the ones we got are really spectacular! We are pleased to see the grant money will be helping literally dozens of teachers, and thousands of students. Our hats are off with a huge round of admiration and applause for these grant proposal authors, and the school officials who are partnering in the projects. All of the proposals addressed specific needs within their respective school systems, and provided concrete, step by step solutions to those needs. Delivering checks of at least $5,000 each to these worthy and beneficial projects will mark an exciting new movement in the world of computers and User Groups. Since we have attracted the attention of at least one other educational grants foundation, and (so far) one major computer manufacturer, we can confidently announce that groups should already be thinking about year 2000. The User Group Academy Grants program will be back with more benefits for your groups and their communities. All of the UGA entries this year should be *VERY PROUD* of their people and their groups regardless of which award, award level or grant they have won. __ Thank you all for reading, and for being active members of their user groups, outstanding achievers in the User Group Community, and loyal supporters of the User Group Academy. __ Well wishes to you all in your personal, professional and user group activities, for the holidays, and throughout 2000.
