Of a possible 1,443 User Groups in the UGNN Directory, representing combined memberships of approximately 238,469, plus the UGNN mailing List: 22,348

The Online Polling Form gathered only: 732 Web Votes (we would have suspected many, many more. Only 44 attempted ballot box stuffers.)

Comments from the Polls...
(Please note that we removed the "names" of the groups. This is a small sampling, however not all voters left comments.)

    • This is the greatest group in the world. We have a terrific slate of officers very dedicated and helpful. Also, have a great membership.

    • This group and its president are absolutely terrific.

    • I love my mug very informative and well presented page.

    • The monthly meetings have become one of the best afternoons I spend, getting indepth information on everything Macintosh and Apple. Sessions range from troubleshooting Q&A to product demo's, all presented using a large video screen, sound system and in a comfortable, friendly setting. Time and money well spent.

    • We have an active userds group of senior citizens from 55 years t o 90 (me) We have permanent facilities in a computer center. With 15 computers, scanners, video projectors, etc.An exciting group. Our webmaster spend a freat deal of time daily seeking out information on macs. This goes out on our club network. [Sell me! ed]

    • What a range of web sites. I don't like the ones that confront me with a blank page, nor do I like too much scrolling before I get to the 'meat' of a page. Great competition

    • I visited all sites ... They were all excellently made sites. I especially enjoyed these three.

    • Some really fantastic sites, some are not so hot.

    • Wow! I visited every nominated site and found a wealth of information and resources and ideas and energy. It has been very difficult to choose.

    • This group is the BEST ever! Put my vote there!

    • Clear message, clean graphics. Broad based, current and helpful, especially for beginners.

    • Also like the Washington Apple Pi groups for their smarts CDs, same with BMUG [Pi and BMug didn't enter! ed]

    • I like sites that are attractive yet give me information quickly rather than slow glitz.

    • This site is a sheer joy to navigate through, not to mention its clean, professional look.

    • The UG page is very cool. Eye-appealing and very well done. I think it really exemplifies what a users group page should look like. I also wish the competition was a less impressive..... :)

    • I belonged to this group and found it techinically superb. However I find that the dedication of the members in the other group to be remarkable in their unselfishness in helping others. The board and many members are right up to the minute in their techincal kmnowledge and they are quick to share it with us peons. No one is made to feel stupid.

    • This is very good. We learn about some very good user groups and all groups can learn from each other

    • Informative, pleasing to the eye, good color combinations used.Timely.
    • ALL SITES PRETTY GOOD

    • Great ideas !

    • This site is superb! It's tasteful, crystal clear, user-friendly, fast, efficent, strikes the perfect balance between form and function, and does exactly what it's supposed to without unnecessary disctractions, whiz-bangs or gimmicks. I haven't even mentioned the incredible, subtle, color scheme- far and away the most original and creative. Wish I could vote twice!
    • This Users Group is the BEST. Every month I always look forward to the monthly meeting for the last 10 years. It always gets better & better. Congratulatins Gang.

    • Great, simple design that is useful for members and non members alike. [This person left all the voting fields blank, so in effect didn't vote at all! ed]

    • Great meetings and superior newsletter. The newsletter alone is worth the annual fee, and more. Excellent help from willing and experienced volunteers. Very good special interest users group sessions.

    • Supprised that there are mostly Mac groups when IBM type PC users are in the majority. I guess there is less commercial support for Mac's, so they have a greater need to help each other. Also, Mac got started sooner.
    • Enjoyed viewing entrants. Thanks for the opportunity.

    • Always the meeting and monthly news letter that I never want to miss.

    • Black backgrounds are not good web design !!!

    • What a clear, user-friendly site! Page-loading was really quick thanks to the smart, simple graphics. I especially liked it's clean look and soothing yet cheerful color palette. The navigation buttons between pages are great, too - efficient and always accessible.

    • It is a nice feeling to see a group dedicated to the Public needs this group seems to offer. I am impressed they have a T V Show. I hope all the groups realize the honor of this nomination . . . but I fail to understand the lack of more PC Groups.

    • The quality of the sites selected for voting was quite different. I don't know how you decided on these sites, but I wasn't able to view a couple of them because of Java script errors that wouldn't go away and wouldn't allow me to go past one or two pages. Some of them were slow to load. The quality of the graphics was so different. Some of the graphics was very primitive and not as sophisticated as I would have expected.

    • A great deal of effort must go into putting out this monthly. I find it very educational.

    • Very informative with good presenters. Enjoy the meetings and really nice to have the big clear screen for the video presentation part.

    • Surprised at the lack of IBM-type user groups but impressed by the enthusiasm of the Apple and Macintosh groups. Good Show!

    • All 10 participants did a great job, but the one I really like is this one. They make it very easy to read for those who have low vision. It doesn't take a long time to load ether.

    • Wonderful, informative web site.
    • great site to visit!!

    • I visited all the sites -- Good job on all of them.

    • This is a great idea to give recognition to these folks -- good choices for the voting... enjoyed visiting the sites...

    • This Club is worthy of an A+ instead of just A. Over 3000 members pulling together to advance Computer Science to the Elderly.

    • Active group with good programs, community participation and good attendance at meetings. Runs several tutoring classes fro various computing applications.

    • Enjoyed all of the sites.Very very difficult to decide who's best.

    • Interesting. I diden't know that there were so many Mac users and so many Mac user group's. Thanks for drawing attention to so many great sites!!!
