. . . Continued from. . . A Macworld to Remember by Ken Gruberman Proving the adage "there's no free lunch," or in this case breakfast, we had to assemble at 6:45 a.m. to register. That meant getting up at 5:00 in the morning! As we mixed and mingled with the most colorful of Macintosh enthusiasts - user group representatives from around the country who are the ultimate "die-hards" - we got a real sense of Macintosh community and fellowship. __ The breakfast was the (expected) Continental kind, accompanied by vendor booths ringing the room from several heavy-hitters like Microsoft, Macromedia and Casady and Greene. It was a chance to get a jump on the upcoming Expo floor action: "here, take one of our blinker badges and come see us at the Booth when you can!" The Awards __ There were speeches by various Apple representatives on various subjects, and then it was Award time. Only the major awards were announced for Best Newsletter and Best Web site due to time constraints - our site won a special Judges Citation - while the rest would be announced at the User Group Soirée held later that night at a local restaurant.
