- Online Security Night - You've got SPAM! What to do about spam -- how
to guard your computer from sniffers, hackers and stalkers. How to configure your
computer to safeguard your children from surfing where they shouldn't be surfing!
- Internet Night - getting on and getting around. Explore the various browsers.
Do several live search for things members are looking for Demo bookmarks. Show how
to save...and how to find what you saved. Open it to the public and watch new people
flock in. If you'd like a suggested outline to help you, just let us know.
- WWW Favorite Sites - Ask ahead of time for special interests and go locate
some of those sites. Be prepared to show others how to find them also. Demonstrate
bookmarks - several times. Publish the bookmark sets.
- Online With Your Friends - How about prearranging an online user group
meeting with your own computer user group or sig and a similar group in a neighboring
community? Doesn't have to be a regular meeting night...because everyone is online
from their own home. You can meet with a group from the neighboring town - or across
the country. How do you do this. Contact us for full details and to schedule your
online gathering.
- Email - how to off line! Send to a list of people, email pen pals. Lots
of folks really DO NOT understand email. They send it but don't understand. You'll
be surprised how many folks are still composing their mail on the clock...but guess
with the upcoming new rates that will not matter much. Also, have little or no idea
how to attach a file or use color in their email, etc. Maybe have a small prize for
the record on email from the youngest, oldest, most distant writer, etc. And be sure
to answer that question a lot of folks are afraid to ask. Where does the email go
when my computer isn't turned on.
- Online Services Night - complete with favorite places! Select members
who subscribe to various services: AOL, Compuserve, Prodigy, etc. Each of these would
give a tour of the service showing favorite features and places: (AOL) IMs, search
on interests, logging, etc. This is a very popular program and everyone learns each
time. It is amazing how much is available on the various commercial services that
many people have never explored.
