Learning Wirelessly at Fremont High "Thank you for making me like math. I used to hate it!" Khir Johari never tires of hearing such feedback--especially from students once considered "at risk." Fremont High's Teacher of the Year, Johari developed an innovative math curriculum that engages students, motivating them to work independently. Using wireless iBook computers, digital video, and software including Mathematica and Destination Math, Fremont's students show dramatic improvement. According to principal Dr. Peggy Raun-Linde,"we're seeing kids who were in the 20th or 30th percentile jumping over to the 50th percentile in math and English, just by taking one or two of the classes where they use the iBooks." Discover how Fremont's Wireless Mobile iBook Lab makes learning fun for students The Math Curriculum Mobile Lab Fremont High deploys is only one of several available Wireless Mobile Lab configurations. In fact, in addition to the recommended literacy, science, math, and digital media lab configuarations, Apple makes it easy for you to build your own custom mobile lab and get the best solution for your school. Spring Comes to iLife Do you have any milkweed planted in your garden? Fourth graders in Ovieda, Florida, certainly hope you do, because it's the only food the hungry Monarch butterfly larvae will eat after emerging from their cocoons in coming months. You didn't know about the importance of milkweed to Monarchs? Then watch students explain all about the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly in the multimedia project they created using iMovie, iPhoto, and iTunes. The students researched the project, shot all the time-lapse footage, took photos, wrote the script, narrated the film, edited the movie, and added titles and music. It's a great example of how even the youngest students can create memorable class projects with the versatile and easy-to-use iLife applications included with every new Mac.
