Dell's new D420 ultraportable

The Macbook has a 13" display and Core Duo and starts at $1099! That being said, I'd still only ever buy a thinkpad. Or a MacBook that had a trackpoint . . . Now before anyone flames me for saying what I have to say, let me start by saying that I use both a PC and a Mac, and that I find pros/cons to both enviornments. But seriously, a 12.1" display and Core Solo processor for $1379? The Macbook has a 13" display and Core Duo and starts at $1099! I'd definitely trade the Dell's features (maybe except for the Cingular/VZN support) for the MacBook's (built-in camera, magsafe power cord, apple remote). Things like an SD slot can be added on with a USB adapter anyway. engadget - Santa Monica,CA,USA

MacBook Po'

Taking a cue from the One Laptop per Child project, the Gangsta extraordinaire is looking to close the Digital Divide for young American urbanites: Rap star 50 Cent is entering the world of technology and is currently in negotiations with Apple's CEO Steve Jobs to produce a line of affordable home computers to inner-city residents. . . . Technical details are sketchy, as they're still in the negotation phase with Jobs. Considering Jobs' offer of a free version Mac OS X was famously snubbed by the $100 Laptop guys in favor of Fedora Core, this deal could finally give the world a stripped-down, faster OS from Apple. Or a Newton, take your pick. SEE: What is the $100 Laptop, really? Wizbang - Washington,DC,USA
