MacBook Pro batteries experiencing failure

The batteries, apparently storing excess heat, are among the first generation of Apple Computer's Intel-component-based laptop computer line. To date, these computers have been lauded as running at faster speeds and cooler temperatures than their PowerPC-based predecessors. MacBook Pro screen failures with external display connected In addition to an issue where the MacBook display shows vertical multi-colored lines instead of the intended image, several MacBook Pro owners are reporting an issue where the built-in display becomes garbled or non-functional when an external display is connected after updating to Mac OS X 10.4.7.
      In most cases, after an external display is connected, both the MacBook Pro's built-in display and the external display function properly for several minutes, after which the built-in display begins to show faded colors or black and white stripes. New MacBook Configurations

Apple Computer recently added two new retail configurations to its MacBook line of consumer notebooks, both of which are now available at most of the company's stores, AppleInsider has learned. A new 2.0GHz white MacBook configuration packs an additional 512MB of RAM and 20GB of extra hard disk space, for a total of 1GB of RAM (via two 512MB SODIMMs) and 80GB of storage. The new model retails for $1449, or $150 more than the 2.0GHz white MacBook with 512MB of RAM and a 60GB hard disk. Both configurations included Apple's SuperDrive optical disc drive. MacBook users develop solution for trackpad woes

As Apple continues to investigate a problem that caused premature discoloration in some of its white MacBook computers, owners of the notebooks are discussing a separate anomaly.
It appears that a number of MacBook users have been experiencing a "squishy" or unresponsive track pad button. On affected systems, the button makes a "ratchet type" sound and sticks if its triggered in certain places, making double-clicking difficult or impossible.
The malfunction does not affect all MacBooks, but can appear in any of the three models. Some users have had success getting their machines replaced, while others have been turned away. Apple Insider - Pennsylvania,AL, USA

MacBook 'Moo' Fix?

MacRumors user "netdog" reports that he has successfully been able to get rid of his MacBook's "moo" issue by resetting his Power Management Unit (PMU). The steps he took were:
1. Shutdown and disconnect power.
2. Remove battery.
3. Hold down power button for more than 5 seconds.
4. Reinsert battery and reconnect power.
5. Boot.

Apple admits MacBook discoloration and tries to make it right

Apple appears to have changed their stance on MacBook stains. While cosmetic issues on Mac laptops and desktops have never been covered under AppleCare, Apple seems to have decided that the issues with discoloration on the casing of white MacBooks is, in fact, not necessarily due to improper handling by users but due to a manufacturing defect.
