We hear the questions all too many times:
* How much do I charge?
* How do you set up customer files
* How do you manage a design flow?
This book should be required reading for all senior design students
Design management is about the management of design in industry. This book leads the reader through the strategy, process and implementation of design management via an exploration of the required skills, theory and practice of each. The book begins with an overview of the area of design management, and then explores each of the key stages, issues and debates involved in the application of design within business. Questions and checklists are used to get the reader to think about the points raised, to confront expectations and to make informed choices.
To enhance the theoretical sections, case studies and interviews from leading professionals and corporations have been carefully selected to demonstrate and the knowledge in 'action'. Each chapter also contains a key skills section, which identifies the practical skills necessary to inspire, lead and manage design agendas/projects in business, to promote the effectiveness of design, and to communicate what design can bring to an organisation.
