Symantec says viruses aimed at Microsoft on the rise

According to an article produced by Reuters, Symantec says the number viruses and worms aimed at Windows Êincreased 400 percent for the first six months of the year compared to the same six months last year. Full story at ... Reuters

Survey: Phishing is Widespread

Google Moves Gmail Ads

According to DM News, (a trade paper for the Direct Marketing industry), Google has changed the location of advertising on its Gmail e-mail service, moving the paid listings from the side of messages to the bottom of the page. Previously, Gmail showed the ad links only on the side of incoming e-mail messages. "The new feature works by scanning e-mail message threads for keywords to match with advertising. For example, Gmail displayed two sponsored listings for New York Yankees' tickets and merchandise below an e-mail exchange regarding a Yankees game." Adobe tries to set photo standard file format

Adobe last Monday unveiled a digital photo format that it hopes will become an industry standard. Included in this is a tool to change current photo formats to this standard formats. This is a big issue, because some cameras only produce certain formats that may go away when those cameras are no longer being used.
