iTunes Affiliate

Way back in the summer we told you about the iTunes Affiliate program... now, in the AUGD list, there was a discussion about MUGs signing up as an affiliate to the iTunes Store. It seems that while the income from this method will never be the sole support of the group, it could be a nice supplement. Of course you need to be sure that it falls with-in your non-profit guide lines if that is pertinent. You can sign up at: apple.com
If your group isn't affiliated, you can help out PBMug by clicking on their link to make your iTunes purchase. www.pbmug.org

New State Spam Laws on Deck

While CAN SPAM preempted most existing state anti-spam laws, notably including a California law that was scheduled to go into effect the same day that CAN SPAM did, it does permit states to add additional penalties for fraudulent activities involved in spamming. California passed a new law, SB 1457, in February which reinstates a private right of action for fraudulent spam. The new law goes into effect in January 2005. [Private Right of Action allows individuals to sue spammers for damages! This is the single most important 'right' to have because it lets individuals go after spammers and skirt around the bureaucratic bull of bringing spammers into court.] www.cauce.org
