According to a story on Apple Insider, QuickTime 7 gains the ability to record audio and video without a third party recording program. Of course, this will only be available to Quicktime Pro users. Read the full story at appleinsider.com

CenterStage Available for Download

The CenterStage project is an attempt by a third party to turn the Mac mini into a Media Center. They have announced that the software is now available for download. Remember, this is all at the alpha stage. So don't put it on a computer that you need for work. Get it at: centerstageproject.com

REALbasic update improves VB Project Converter

In light of the protest last week over Microsoft's dumping of Visual Basic 6 in favor of a .net version, this is big news. REALbasic is releasing a new version that improves the conversion of VB to REALbasic. According to this Associate Press story, the European Union has decided that Microsoft is dragging its feet on following the antitrust ruling. It has threaten Microsoft with new fines if they don't make it easier for competitors to see the code to its server software and make it less expensive for them to use it.
Surely by now, it is obvious that Microsoft puts off these things as long as possible thinking that things will be better when a new administration takes over, as it it did in the U.S. ... see the full story...

Census Bureau Press Releases

A few years ago, I mentioned that the Census has great "filler" material for newseletters. The real problem with it was that they press releases came to late to be used. Apple swallows SchemaSoft

A small Canadian company, SchemaSoft that produces software that enables other software makers translate rival file formats has been purchased by Apple.
SchemaSoft's tools can extract data found in a variety of formats including Microsoft Office documents, PDFs as well as HTML and XML. Read more...

Upgrade your iPod hard drive

Schoolgirls post porn pics on net for a dare

TWO schoolgirls who posted naked photos of themselves on a website for a dare have prompted fresh warnings to parents about the dangers of the internet. Experts warn parents they must educate themselves and their children on safely using home computers.
