It's been about two years now since we first began talking about the online crime known as Phishing. Now, the criminals have honed their phishing tools to target unwary computer users with a very pointed weapon: Spear Phishing. Education, Corporate, Government and Institutional computer users need to know about this new threat! See SafeNet: Spear Phishing
For along time now, I have depended on lowermac.com to keep up with older Macs and what their specifications. Now we also have EveryMac.com. It is now setup with links to Apple's Knowledge Base which makes it easier to find answers to your questions. See for yourself at: everymac.com
One of the problems with news alerts and to a lesser extent filtered RSS feeds is that you don't get the enjoyment of seeing an article that may be of interest to you even though it wasn't on your radar. That is one of the joys of reading a daily newspaper. Stumble Upon solves that issue somewhat.
This is an extention for Firefox recommended to me by a Firefox, PC user. You MUST use Firefox to get and use this extension. With it you setup preferences as to what you like to view. Then, once registered with the site, it will somewhat randomly take you to web sites that match up with your criteria based upon recommendations from others who have signed up for the same categories. Got some great links that way. Most of what I am including this week came via Stumble's recommendations. With Firefox go to: www.stumbleupon.com
Here they are trying to show that not only is a one button mouse acceptable, but it might be preferable to have a NO button mouse. Try it out at: www.dontclick.it

See it at: www.tomshardware.com

Friend and fellow spam fighter Bob Platt called one evening to say: "Fred, you should tune in to this TV show -- they're tracking down a spammer." So I watched NBC's "Dateline" with close attention. What I saw was not at all what I expected -- a prime-time TV show white-washing spam and online porno! 60-Second Window for August
