IDG Macworld Cans Boston Expo

On Friday IDG announced the cancellation Macworld Expo Boston, boiling you down to San Francisco. Since Apple stopped attending Boston went down the tubes -- understandable. After all the hype and boasting about moving to New York, Apple even hosed that venue by moving major announcements to their World Wide Developers Conference. So Macworld is dead on the East Coast -- translated by many to read: "just dead". (Ina Fried, CNET) ... see the full story...

REALbasic 2005 for Macintosh Release 3 now shipping

I have been intrigued with REALbasic for sometime now and recently purchased a couple of books via the Amazon "used book" section to read up on it. I hope to try developing an application using it and the books in a few weeks. Meanwhile, REAL Software announced a new version. One of the cool things about REALbasic is that if you get the Professional Edition, you can save it as a Windows application as well as the Mac version.
Downloaded direct from REAL Software . Read about it at: www.emediawire.com

Automator

Have you had a presentation at your MUG on Automator yet? Automator is perhaps Apple's least well know feature. I have used Quickeys and Tempo in the past to do automation. Never really got into AppleScripting, but that was another possibility. But then almost no one got into AppleScripting even if it was very useful. Automator is another try at Automation on the Mac. Here is an article about how to use Automator to in PDF Workflows. Read it at The PDFZone

The Syracuse Post-Dispatch apparently has a regular Mac column. One of the readers from that column credits the author with getting him to switch.
