Cicit City's New FireDog service has offered to make the necessary changes to the Xbox 360 that will allow a user to use original Xbox games. They are only going to charge $28.99 for the effort. Apple which enjoys a great relationship with developers that are for profit, has just launched Mac OS Forge a new web site that is aimed at developing relationships with organizations and individuals that are working on open source projects aimed at OS X. Sony expands LocationFree lineup

Last week, Sony announced new products in its "LocationFree" product line. These are base stations for linking computers to media devices. The base stations are $199.99 for a wired version and $249.00 for a version with a wi-fi connection. A third product is the LocationFree TV Box that will with the aid of a base station let a TV stream to a second TV. That is an additional $229.99. I think this shows that the merger of the computer and the living room is well on the way. Apple needs to get off its duff and really promote the media center. (Read More)

iPod Phone ready?

According to an analyst report that Apple has an iPod phone ready to ship and will do so next year. I guess it is okay to spread rumors if you are an "analyst" and want to bump Apple's stock. See the full story...

Speaking of Rumors

There is great speculation on what Apple is going to announce tomorrow, September 12th. Speculation includes a new video on demand service, a new widescreen Nano and the aforementioned phone. However, MacWorld UK takes it further saying that Apple's retail chief, Ron Johnson will be at an analysts meeting after the presentation to answer questions about how the retail stores fit into the new picture. Colored Folders

I have always thought that the colored labels in Mac OS X was pretty lame. This fellow has written an application that runs in the background and colors the complete folder instead of just the label. However, it only works with generic icons, so there is still room for improvement. Also, according to one reviewer, it breaks on Mac OS X 10.4.7. See the full story...

Amazon Now Offers Movie Downloads

Amazon has added TV shows and movie downloads to its product mix. They promise content from more than 30 studio and network partners on its "Amazon Unbox." It is offering DVD quality downloads. Pricing is similar to the iTunes Store. $1.99 for a TV episode and movies going from $7.99 to $14.99. They also offer 30 day rentals of movies for $3.99.
