Fred has gathered some good links to articles that look at why the talks between Apple and Cisco died. It seems that Cisco was insisting that Apple and Cisco work together to make their product interoperate. Apparently, Apple wasn't willing to take the discussion into that realm. Skype Makes Management Change, Launches Version 3.0

Skype's President is returning to eBay, the parent company. Meanwhile, Skype introduced its version 3.0 of its Windows software which includes new features of Public chats and a gaming feature. Get the software at: www.skype.com

Sony announced competition to Apple TV

Sony announced two Living Room PCs at CES last week. One of which contains a Blu-ray drive. The othr is a circular design of its older UX Micro PC that has all solid state memory.
LAS VEGAS - Sony Electronics introduced two Living Room PCs, one Blu-ray equipped and the other sporting a funky circular industrial design, and a revamped version of its UX Micro PC that features all solid state memory.

"Tech Is Disney's Future"

Disney's CEO Robert Iger made a keynote speech at CES and pretty well let people know that they are intent on becoming a multimedia, multiplatform digital entertainment company. One of the things announced is a massive multiplayer online game based on the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie. This game will be launched sometime in the spring. Feds said to be looking into Apple option issue

Last Friday media reported that federal investigators have launched a probe into the option granted to Steve Jobs in 2001. The option had a false reporting date. At the end of the year, it appeared that Apple's internal investigation would suffice. How times can change. Read more details at: marketwatch.com

More movies on iTunes

In addition to Disney and the new contract with Paramount, Apple has now announce that more than half of the Sundance Film Festival's short films will be available on iTunes. It is possible to view the films at Sundance's web site for free, but if downloaded from iTunes would be available for at least the life of the computer. Story at the spam-riddled: usatoday.com ... ThriftMac

This web site specializes in FREE Mac software. The site contains an archive section, but its "Fresh" software is listed on the home page. Some of the current ones include:
Alice - Create 3D models and learn programming with an easy drag-and- drop method designed for students.
ArtRage - Just check out the website to see some of the incredible art created with this painting program. If you're artistically inclined, you'll want to take ArtRage for a spin.
Expression - A full-featured vector graphics program along the lines of Illustrator or Freehand.

WorksWell & DrawWell

These are free applications. WorksWell includes drawing, charts, presentations, PDF markup, along with data merging of iTunes/iPhoto. DrawWell is basically just the drawing part of the WorksWell. The latest version is for Mac OS X 10.3.9 and 10.4.x and is Universal. There are also versions available for Mac OS X 10.5, 10.2.6 and 10.2.8. Get them at: drawwell.com
