Earlier this month, a county court in California ordered Apple to pay the legal fees associated with the defense of three bloggers who talked about the "Asteroid" product. The product was never actually released. But Apple claimed that the web sites had violated California's state trade secret law and were not entitled to First Amendment protection. However, the appeals court ruled that the sites were acting legally. Therefore Apple was ordered to pay all legal costs with a 2.2 times multiplier which make the total $770K. See the full story...

Showing any copyright media on a screen that is larger than 55 inches is a copyright infringement, which may constitute a public performance. Yes, it is that time of year again. I found it interesting that TurboTax is now including the Mac version on the same CD as the PC version. That saves Intuit a lot of shipping and packaging costs without dropping support for the Mac. I applaud their effort here. By contrast, H&R Block's Tax Cut dropped support for Mac. Tivo late last month announced that their TivoToGo software for MacOS X. This will enable Mac owners to download and watch their TiVo recorded content on their Macs and thus their iPods. The software was actually developed by Roxio. Mac owners should know that company very well.
The basic version is a free download for both Windows and Macs, but the premium version is available for Windows users for $24.95, but the Mac version only comes with the $100 application, 'Toast 8 Titanium" from Roxio. Full story at: www.tgdaily.com
This Washington post article included a couple of paragraphs about how the Washington Apple Pi helps people use their Apple II and III computers. This takes place on Tuesday nights in their Rockville headquarter where volunteers, including Lorin Evans help retrieve data from disks and hard drive and convert to Macs and PCs.
