According to two gurus who investigated the loss of all functionality on the user-groups.net server, it was a DOS, or "denial of service." I guess someone didn't like our spam-fighting efforts. What I can't figure out is why didn't Apple come up with this? The Big Mean Folder Machine is an easy to use file/folder management utility that works with large file collections -- merging files from several folders into a single folder, or split files into several folders, etc. On the Mac, you need this.
