Mailbag: SCSI drives

Reader B.C. from Milford DE writes in to ask:
"I have data on a SCSI backup hard drive that I need to download. I have all new Macs and cannot connect the drive to my computer. Can you help me find someone who can help me?

Unfortunately, both SCSI and floppies have been phased out of the Mac world. Your best bet is to find a user group with a member who has a G3 level (or earlier) Mac. These may even have a SCSI and USB port. Once a legacy Mac is located, just hook up the SCSI and burn the data to DVD or CD. We keep a beige G3 on hand with SCSI, USB and FIREWIRE, CD burner AND floppy -- just for that reason.

You can also purchase the USB SCSI Adapter that connects SCSI peripherals to your USB 2.0 or 1.1 port in seconds! The adapter makes it fast and easy to connect your SCSI devices with the newest Macs and Windows based computer systems. Connect the adapter to your SCSI device, and plug the attached USB cable into your USB port...ready to use in seconds!

Then, you'll need to find a use for that old SCSI drive... door stop? www.usb-ware.com

Quotes: What about time?

Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time.
      -- Jim Rohn

Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.
