3D-Matrix from Digital Scores

a powerful environment for creating 3D models

3D Matrix was demonstrated as part of the Australian Effects and Animation Festival (AEAF) on 2 June, at the Melbourne Convention Center, Australia.

3D Matrix is targeted towards game developers and graphic designers starting out in 3D modeling. 3D Matrix is easier to use than other modeling packages, and offers a range of export functions so 3D Matrix can act as a gateway to other powerful tools.

The latest version includes a mathematics language that allows students to express and visualize equations. Developers can select mathematical objects from template lists, manipulate their surfaces and export into other applications.

3D Matrix's modeling capability can be combined with the free POV-Ray ray-tracer and Photoshop for post production to provide a complete solution for 2D designers.

"The version 1.6 update includes a multiple step undo and an open source file format. Another feature allows you to move instantly between different screen environments which is very practical." said Julian Cochran. "We can't wait to see some of the structures that creative people will be coming out with and inspired games that developers will be producing."

3D Matrix 1.6 delivers substantial upgrades from the earlier versions, offering mathematics modeling, an XML file format that gives developers more control of the data, a flexible and memory efficient model design, mirrored polygon groups that can be skewed and distorted, new polygon optimization tools, a multi-step undo and redo feature and significant performance improvements.
