Kawasaki visits User Group University
Dan Sailers, special correspondent and VP of the Association of Apple Computer
Users & Groups filed this report yesterday from the Macworld Expo User Group
University...
It was a true knockout in true Kawasaki form -- and all in attendance loved it!
___ Author, visionary and former Apple Fellow Guy Kawasaki
appeared as the surprise keynote speaker at the User Group University held on January
7.
___ Guy was truly an inspiration -- probably the best
he's ever been -- and the crowd gave him a hearty standing ovation.
___ Guy spoke about "Selling The Macinotsh Dream
- The Top 10," and he compared the Macintosh to snowboarding -- where Windows
is like skiing. It was a great way to bring across strong points, with a humerous
slant.
He noted:
"Macintosh User Group Leaders can grow and improve their groups"
with such advice as "Get more young people involved."
He spoke for nearly an hour, to everyone's delight, to close out an interesting and
exhausting day at Macworld.
Guy Kawasaki was on the original board of "Computer Users For Social Responsibility"
as well as the MUG NEWS Service's "Johnny Appleseed Awards."
___ He was a participant in all three NAUGSAW events,
and set the User Group Academy Awards in motion in 1996 with the "Guy Kawasaki
User Group Heros Award" in Dallas Texas.

In the time-honored tradition of the maxim "It's not how you play the game,
but whether you win or lose," best-selling author of Selling the Dream and The Macintosh Way, Guy Kawasaki presents the definitive take-no-prisoner's
guide for Davids to beat Goliaths.
___ The product of years of experience as an evangelist
for the then-upstart Apple and as a computer guru and business strategist, this presentation
is a fountain of irreverent and sometimes extreme stratagems in sales, marketing,
production, and human resources that will help your company or organization get and
keep the upper hand.
"The best way to really be your best!"
Fred Showker, The User Group Network News
___ Whether you are launching a new company or product,
consolidating your strength in the marketplace, or trying to hold your own against
a competitor with greater resources, Guy's presentation offers a comprehensive blueprint
for success. From the initial steps of learning as much about your own company as
you do about your enemy to advanced techniques like playing with your opponent's
minds, Guy Kawasaki explores every facet of the premise that the best defense is
a good offense.
"As Guy's delightfully readable book helps you drive your
competition crazy, it will also drive your accountant crazy... wondering what to
do with all those excess profits."

Guerrilla Marketing
