Devon Updates Software

Features DEVONnote

DEVONnote 1.5 is the first of three updates to all major DEVONtechnologies applications, DEVONthink, DEVONagent, and the release of DEVONthink Pro Public Beta. DEVONnote 1.5 comes with a completely revamped user interface and more than 100 new functions, commands, file formats and other improvements.

The most notably new features are: automatic linking of words to other documents with the same name (automatic Wiki-style links), user-definable labels, a new "Go" menu for easier navigation, an Actions button for people with a one-button mouse, and a completely rewritten search function. The text editing capabilities have been significantly extended including a new sub-menu for inserting bullets, page breaks and the current date and time, an option for displaying invisible characters such as spaces, tabs and line breaks, and enhanced character, word and paragraph statistics. To keep the most important functions always at hand, many new commands have been added to the contextual menu, which is now available almost everywhere. This together with many more minor interface changes enhances the user experience and makes DEVONnote even easier to use.

The new preference panel allows to configure DEVONnote not only much easier, but also to modify DEVONnote's behaviour to a much wider extend. Finally, the integrated Safari-based web browser now supports Java, JavaScript and plug-ins, and a new backup function maintains an automatic backup of the database.

PhotoStickies 5.2 is a maintainance update that addresses several smaller bugs and glitches, improves the sizing of images and caches the "New cams" list locally. And finally, the update to ThumpsUp 4.0.1 brings an Italian language localisation.

DEVONnote requires at least Mac OS X 10.2.7 or higher with 256 MB RAM recommended, PhotoStickies and ThumbsUp run on Mac OS X 10.2 and higher. All three are immediately available for downloading from devon-technologies.com; DEVONnote must be registered after the trial period for US$ 20, PhotoStickies for US$ 12. ThumbsUp is freeware and can be used free of cost.

DEVONNOTE

DEVONnote, DEVONthink's little brother, is a notepad application for Mac OS X, based on the same rock-solid foundation as DEVONthink, but less complex and easier to use. DEVONnote is capable of intelligently storing and organising plain or rich texts and file aliases in one single place. Users can also store bookmarks in DEVONnote, browse the web using the integrated browser based on Apple's WebKit, capture interesting notes via the services menu, organise webcams or create cross and Wiki-style links.

DEVONnote helps with professional but easy-to-use features to organise notes and make structure out of chaos. In addition, the integrated plain and rich text editor makes it possible to only to enter short notes but to write letters, articles, books. Comfortable highlighting functions and character/word counters assist the user, not to forget the split-screen view for navigating and editing even thousands of documents almost instantly.
