The animated video introduction

Photoshop elementsThis Animated Introduction to Adobe Photoshop Elements courseware is intended for users of this "kid brother" of famous Photoshop. To speed learning, every tutorial is packed with a short movie showing some practical usage of the longer, more detailed lesson. Included are 76 embedded clips that can be played as a single full-length movie (total running time about 2 hours). Complete controls allow users instantly find a required segment.

The book's interface features all the essential functions available in popular "readers" and web browsers - table of contents, history, bookmarks, text search, etc. Moreover, the conception of video-book combines the advantages of the e-book and video formats. For example, you can use full-text search to find a particular movie episode, and then place a bookmark.

Although Photoshop Elements is generally reputed as an "amateurish" program, the author propagates the professional Photoshop approach to photo editing. The course introduces you to the essential techniques of the program - color and tonal adjustments, layers, transformations, selecting, and masking. (The full version of this book comes to you with a patch uncovering some undocumented masking and selecting functions of your Elements.)

The author also offers a collection of practical solutions. Real photos are enhanced, retouched, and manipulated for you in real time, showing the most efficient combinations of the discussed methods.

The video-book is available as Windows and Mac packages. (Although the course has been composed for Windows version of Photoshop Elements it is also compatible with Photoshop Elements 4.0 for Mac.)
