GWG Members to Present at PDF-FORUM being held in conjunction with XPLOR and Graphics of the Americas Events
The Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG) has announced that it has signed on as a partner in the PDF-FORUM, with several GWG members scheduled to speak at the Conference and tutorial sessions. PDF-FORUM is taking place February 1 Ð 4, 2006 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, in conjunction with the XPLOR Global Document Conference and the Graphics of the Americas trade show in Miami, Florida.
XPLOR representatives say this is the first PDF-FORUM for Print Production it has organized, and that the intention is for it to be an international conference.
PDF and the Ghent PDF Workgroup
PDF has become the preferred format for the exchange of prepress data for print production. PDF is also the internal format utilized in most production workflows for commercial and digital printing.
The Ghent PDF Workgroup is an international assembly of industry associations whose goal is to establish and disseminate process specifications for best practices in graphic arts workflows based on PDF.
Ghent PDF Workgroup to Unveil New Output Recommendations
David Zwang of IPA, and the vice chairman of GWG, will present the work of the Ghent PDF Workgroup in the first Conference session, "PDF/X and JDF: Important standards for PDF workflows," on February 2. In the second session on the same day, "State-of-the-Art PDF Creation", Zwang will talk about GWG recommendations for creating PDFs for print production in an office environment. In a tutorial addressing PDF Suites on Saturday, February 3, the brand new Ghent Output Suite will be presented.
Additional members of GWG participating at the conference are: Martin Bailey (Global Graphics), Vicki Blake (Enfocus), David van Driessche (Gradual), Hans Hartman (Quark), Stephan Jaeggi (PDFX-ready) and Leonard Rosenthol (Apago).

The Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG), formed in June 2002, is an international assembly of industry associations and suppliers from across Europe and the United States. The GWG's objective is to establish and disseminate process specifications for best practices in graphic arts workflows.
