Power Manager
automated power events
DssW has released Power Manager 3.1 for Mac OS X. Power Manager is a system utility for scheduling automatic power events including start up, log out, and shut down. Power Manager 3.1 includes the most requested features since version 3.0.
- - Control over the event notification period;
- - Option to delay pending events by 5 minutes;
- - Option to cancel pending events;
- - Fast user switching savvy;
- - Idle sleep disabled during event notification period;
- - New log out and restart actions.
Power Manager extends the scheduling functionality provided by Mac OS X's Energy Saver. Power Manager offers unrestricted schedules, greater customisation, and additional actions.
Unlike Energy Saver, Power Manager is aware of multiple and fast switched users. Version 3.1 introduces a new staged method of logging out active users. This method ensures that the scheduled event takes place while giving running applications the opportunity to quit gracefully.
To achieve this control DssW had to loosen connection to the Energy Saver scheduler and introduce their own. Their new scheduler offers much greater control and lets us provide a wider range of actions.
Version 3.1 introduces two new actions: log out and restart. Your schedules can now include all of the following actions.
- - Start up/Wake up;
- - Shut down;
- - Sleep;
- - Log out;
- - Restart.
Events can be scheduled to occur once at a specific date and time, or to repeat at regular intervals.
