PC-Mac-Net FileShare v3.0
makes file sharing easy and secure over LAN or Internet
Lava Software is now shipping PC-Mac-Net FileShare v3.0, a product which allows users to share files easily and securely between computers connected over a Local Area Network (LAN) or the Internet. It provides a secure, enhanced replacement for Microsoft Windows file sharing, but works across the Windows, MacOS X and MacOS Classic platforms. A Linux version is coming early 2004.
New features include
- Resumable folder transfers,
- 2-6 times higher transfer speed,
- streamlined Internet file sharing,
- support for long file names and file names with Unicode characters,
- multiple file and folder transfers,
- enhanced automatic cross-platform file renaming,
- sharing of any file or folder on a computer,
- transfers of files and folders larger than 2GB,
- remote computer folder navigation controls,
- faster detection of other computers on the network,
- full MacOS Classic 8.6 compatibility, etc.
The new Professional Edition adds encrypted data transfers, providing a simple Virtual Private Network (VPN) function which protects confidential data from snooping during file transfers over wireless networks or over the Internet. The free demo software allows users to evaluate PC-Mac-Net FileShare for an unlimited time, though some functions are limited.
Availability:
The Standard Edition is USD24.95 per license and the Professional Edition is USD39.95 per license (one license is required for each computer), with volume and school discounts available.
Purchasers get download access to the current version of the software for all platforms, as well as free upgrades for one year. Lava Software is currently offering two licenses for the price of one - for every license you order, you get an extra one free. This applies to both the Standard and Professional Editions.
Versions are available for Windows 2000/XP, MacOS X and MacOS Classic (from System 8.6 with CarbonLib and PPC processor). A version for Windows 95/98/NT/ME is coming very soon, and a Linux version is due early next year.
