Adobe Photoshop Elements | Support User Groups - User Group Network

I think Adobe's new product "Photoshop Elements" has a slightly misleading name. First of all, don't believe a word they say, saying Elements is for "amateurs." When the Adobe propaganda begin to promote the new package, I kind of sluffed it off as more of the usual line extension marketing hype. It's probably another reincarnation of Photoshop LE.
_ But after being totally knocked out by Terry White's demonstration of Elements at the Macworld Adobe breakfast I became determined to dig into this new kid on the block and see for myself what tha'heck Terry was talking about. Ya'know what? He wasn't kidding.
_ Over the years you've heard me complain long and loud about the continual overlays of more and more 'noise' being programmed and upgraded into software these days. Literally hundreds of keystroke commands and short cuts -- way too many to remember -- more palettes, more dialogs, more of this and more of that - noise, noise, noise. Heck, it's gotten so complicated that even the software companies don't know how to use their own software. A favorite drawing program has become a nightmare of conflicting, confusing and sometimes counter productive 'consumer' features that defy even the Stanford PhDs. Features are one thing, but superfluous junk is quite another. So imagine my true shock when I discover that Adobe's new 'elements' is just about the way Photoshop should look, feel, behave and work for 99% of the people who use a computer and images. Note strong emphasis on the key word "should."
_ I get hundreds of calls and emails in the Design Center and the User Group Network from people with imaging or specific Photoshop problems. Nearly all of those questions are easily solved with a few clicks in Photoshop Elements -- which does basically the same thing as Photoshop but without the high-end image editing powers and features that only the professional print and prepress operators need.
_ Adobe developers seemed to have listened to the millions comments from users and non users alike for more brevity, easier operations, more complete help, logical interface and less noise. (Read the Photoshop listserv for a few months and you'll know what I'm talking about.) Elements even surpasses PhotoDeluxe which used to be my first recommendation for rank beginners or those without desire.
