Pump-n-Dump & Stocks Scams Update

follow up to last week's stock scam story

Following the 60-Second Window article we began tracking spam that promotes stocks. Here is the report for the week ending on April 9th, 2006

Stock Scammers in a Slump

Well, this week we only stopped and reported 64 pump and dump stock scams. Evidently, they've taken a break, or some of the frequent spammers have been caught and stopped by the SEC -- or, they've simply removed our honey-pot addresses from their mailing lists. We turn in all research notes on a weekly basis for SEC investigations. So, at least this week, we can feel we've gotten a little more value from our work on this project.

The Chinese don't seem to care about the SEC, pump and dumps from China and other Asian countries seems to continue no matter how the ebb and flow of general spam goes.

Ever-Glory continues to maintain their relentless spam. During March they let up a bit, and all but disappeared for a week. Now they're back with a vengeance. This week they sent 42 out of the 64 spams. This company is either desperate or they're making lots of money and selling lots of stocks by sending spam.

Watch out for Premium Petroleum: they use stealth tactics to avoid detection, with a completely encoded email so text searches and spam filters are rendered useless. Not to the eyes of spam watchers though.
Pictures:
* what the user sees ...
* what's actually there ...
* the encoded text of the email. PPTL
If you look them up, here's a look at their activity! You do NOT want to fool with this situation! (at right) And, in the Yahoo stock profiles they have NO business summary and NO data analysis available. Look at that chart and you can easily see the dumps as they happen. Stay away!

Golden Apple Bogus Text... No analyst data available, No business summary available. Their email uses an embedded graphic for what appears to the user. (If you click and drag on the supposed text, you'll see it's bogus!) But if you look carefully at the "hidden" text of the coded email, it's nonsensical to steer the spam filters and trackers off base. They must think we're stupid!

April 2 through April 8 Stocks to Avoid:
: Ever-Glory_International_Group Inc. : EGLY = 42
: Midland Baring Financial Group : MDBF = 22
: KOKO PETROLEUM : KKPT = 6
: Premium Petro|eum Inc. : PPTL - 6
: Golden Apple Oil / Gas : GAPJ.PK = 2
: Dark Dynamite Inc. : DKDY = 3
: Extreme Innovations, Inc. : EXTI.pk = 2
: Nano Superlattice Technology, Inc. : NSLT = 2
: UBA Technology Inc. : UBTA.PK = 2
: Space Propulsion Systems, Inc. : SPSY = 2

UBA Technology Inc. scrambled text: While bragging "Kiosk-Based Peer-to-Peer Betting Exchange Platform for Land-Based Casinos in Oklahoma" -- UBTA.PK interspersed good text with CSS class spans thinking we couldn't read html encoding. If you check them out in the market analysis sites, you find no officers listed, and scant information other than Netwire press releases.

Bluewatchesonline and Affilzonline: this spammer volunteered a domain to track, taking us on a wild goose chase into central Europe and the Middle-East -- www bluewatchesonline [dot] com promised "Penny Watches Can Make You Money..." but instead, makes money for the spammer. This link instantly redirects to predator scripts at: www.affilzonline [dot] com

The WhoIS reports this spam belongs to john M grady in Moscova, RU 7000 (probably forged) DNS is: Nameservices [dot] net registered to a KiJoal Bibo in Delavan, WI 53115, most likely also forged. Nevertheless, the first domain will ward off trackers because it is out of the country.

The redirect site, where the predator script does its evil is in Bucuresti, Romania, but the Name Server is in Laymayosi, MGY. Strangely, the site was unreachable unless you feed through the CGI. Even the Domain Registrar sounds fishy -- this setup strongly suggest terrorist involvement and should be investigated by the authorities.

All of our captured pump and dump stock scams this week provide sufficient cause for ICANN to shut them down -- and for the feds to go after them. Unfortunately, some investors won't see this article and will most likely get taken to the cleaners.
