This week everything for the web from new browsers to Safari enhancements to FTP favorites
This is a security update to the alternative Web browser for Mac OS X. It is part of the "ongoing program to provide a safe Internet experience" for Firefox customers.
Interarchy 7.3.3 is the latest version of the FTP, SFTP, and SSH client application. Version 7.3.3 includes the following: bug fixes, a Japanese language translation, support for SFTP servers that do not send UID/GID information, and more.
StreamWatcher is a sophisticated network monitoring utility for Mac OS X 10.3, which can view all network traffic at a glance. Users can summarize all traffic on their network to get an overall picture of activity or can use StreamWatcher's live search to dig deaper and see statistics for individual protocols, computers, or connections.
LiveDictionary is a Safari extension that adds fast, convenient dictionary lookups to the web. Once installed, it becomes a transparent part of Safari; point to a word with the mouse cursor, and its definition or translation appears in a popup window. It offers a wide array of dictionaries for technical terms, general language, and bilingual usage. Version 1.1.3 adds a Korean-English dictionary and other changes.
Safari Prairiefire cleans up Safari's bookmarks and reports dead or expired links. The user can quickly delete, verify, edit, and update the bookmarks. This is a process that is so tedious to do in Safari that it has become easier to create new bookmark when the old ones go dead.
Mac Remote Control 1.1 is an application that gives users remote access to their Mac. It allows users to quit or launch applications, as well as sleep or wake up the Mac with the new version.
iGetter adds a new QuickTime-based preview, an improved transfer log, a new speed limiter slider, support for "Content-Disposition" HTTP protocol for proper file renamng, and support for FTPS. iGetter is a full featured download manager and accelerator for Mac OS X 10.2 or later.
PDF Browser Plugin 2.2 adds PDF viewer functionality to your Web browser using Quartz technology built into Mac OS X. Version 2.2 improves stability, increases accuracy of standard size on most displays, and offers optional display of real page numbers in addition to page labels while scrolling.
A little pricey to be included in a "shareware" library -- but notable software just the same. WireFusion allows 3D artists, Web developers and programmers to easily create interactive Web3D presentations from their X3D and VRML models.
Transmit 3.02 updates the popular FTP client, bringing more reliable import from Fetch and old Transmit, better reconnection to and compatibility with SFTP servers, more compatibility with FTP servers, more AppleScript options, and more. Version 3 offers a new column view, multiple connections in a single window, improved bookmarking, iDisk/WebDAV support, Docksend functions, server-to-server transfers, and more.
URLwell 1.0 is a utility that allows users to store URLs. It supports drag & drop to URLwell's menu bar icon as well as the ability to manually edit the saved list: for removal or marked as visited.
Agitprop is a Mac OS X application for separating your blog entries from Lifli Software's iBlog application. iBlog (1.4.x and earlier) does not readily provide any form of export functionality that preserves blog entry information, such as category and posting date.
