TextWrangler 2 text editor to the rescue

Bare Bones Software, one of our favorite software makers has upgraded TextWrangler their award-winning text editor. While not nearly as good as BBEdit, the updated version of this popular, general-purpose text processing tool includes maintenance fixes to reported issues and minor refinements.

TextWrangler 2.1.2 is available free of charge. An update package is available to all TextWrangler 2 users for download from the Bare Bones Software web site

TextWrangler's feature set includes such diverse elements as multi-file search and replace with optional regular expression ("Grep") pattern matching, function navigation and syntax coloring for numerous code languages, the ability to easily work with files on remote FTP and SFTP servers, and comprehensive support for AppleScript and Unix scripting. This makes it an ideal tool for composition, clerical tasks, system administration or software development. TextWrangler 2 requires Mac OS X 10.3.5 or later, and is fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger."

TextWrangler 2.1.2 is available immediately, free of charge for all Mac users and requires Mac OS X 10.3.5.

Registered TextWrangler users may upgrade to BBEdit for US$99, a significant discount off the suggested retail price of US$199. BBEdit offers professionals even more power, from the advanced HTML and CSS tools to seamless integration with version control systems, Text Factory, Glossaries and much more.
